Synopsis

En l'an 74 de l'Ère Cosmique, la guerre civile qui faisait rage entre les Terriens Naturals et les Coordinators vivant dans l'espace touche à sa fin. Subissant un revers majeur, Kira Yamato pilote le Strike Freedom Gundam et mène l'Archangel et son équipage dans une tentative désespérée de détruire le Requiem, une super-arme destinée à anéantir la majeure partie de la vie humaine dans l'univers. Aux côtés de Kira combat son meilleur ami et rival Athrun Zala, un pilote d'élite qui doit se défendre contre la colère de son ancien subordonné Shinn Asuka, pilote du puissant Destiny Gundam. Shinn considère Athrun comme un traître, un obstacle à l'établissement d'un avenir pacifique pour l'univers. Alors que des combats acharnés de mobile suits, où s'affrontent la vie et la mort, sont menés pour le destin de la galaxie, une guerre tentaculaire entre des humains incapables de se comprendre mutuellement approche de son terme.
